We are very proud to offer for sale this incredible opportunity to own an iconic timepiece. The Omega CK 2915-1 Speedmaster, the first execution of the iconic wrist watch we have all come to know and love. This example comes with a 2915-1 stamped case, 7077 Bracelet stamped 58 with No. 6 end pieces. The dial has been changed in its life time to a 1960/61 reference 2998-1 or -2 stepped dial, we believe this was done as part of a service in the 1960s. This reference for this dial being the first watch in space. The watch comes with its original MK1 hands and Alpha sub dial hands. Crown and pushers are both believed to be original as well. With a Base 1000 Bezel. The iconic Omega 321 movement with serial range 15.996.***. Accompanied with Omega Archive certificate. This reference complete has seen world record prices in 2017 in excess of $275,000. Considered by most the grail of Omega collections with only very small numbers being produced. We are very proud to offer this piece for sale. Viewing is advised and by appointment only. Telephone lines will be available for bidding although in these will be undoubtedly book up quickly. For further information please do not hesitate to contact us. Best of Luck! Elliot Franks, Director & Auctioneer

I am not a player in this market, but this sold at an auction I was watching today, thought it might be of interest to folks here. Sold at £35k plus commission and fees.

Pics. are not good enough. Bezel is hard to see, let alone to evaluate. A picture, where the hands obstruct the all important view of the writing on the dial, does not instill confidence. The minute and hour hand look flat to me, which is incorrect. Good back. Very polished case. If the movement number and the omega excerpt confirm -1, it was worth every penny. Kind regards. Achim

The buyers commission at that auction house is up around the (crazy) 30% mark, where most seem to be heading. It must be damaging the prices that the vendors receive and then ultimately the auction house's business as vendors are discouraged.

Completely agree, my local auction house buyer's commission has risen by 10% over last year and they have also increased the seller's costs as well so it's now nearly 55% of total taken by auctioneer. For example , watch sells for hammer price of £1000 , buyer pays approx £1340 and sellers gets £790 so auction house makes £550 , this includes online bidding charge as well of nearly 5%.

Commissions aside, which I believe are too high considering I remember auctions where the buyer's premium was 10%... boy, are those days long gone... I wouldn't have bid on this watch if money was no object. I realize how rare they are and how few were made, but I would wait for a better example. I realize that it sold at a substantial discount, and as watchuwant states..."worth every penny". It just isn't the one for me.

Consider this example sold at Sotheby's estimate was $150,000 - 200,000 USD

15,00x,xxx is too early for any Speedmaster, according to the standard references. I’d love to see their extract from Bienne that ‘verifies’ the watch.

I question the dial too. Both OMEGA and the look of the subdial edges make me suspicious. But, I’ve never had one in hand, so I’ll yield to our more experienced members.

That serial is too high. I don't think thats an ordinal 2915 movement. The extract is also not pictured. I'd be very skeptical of it assuming it is one of the early extracts

I know nothing of these, but that’s a step dial...weren’t these domed?
It says it was a swapped in 2998 dial. Do you people not read the text 😉

I would have bought the thing for the bezel alone and sold the rest for parts. (since it’s already been filled with incorrect parts for the reference). Wish I had seen it!

Is it even possible to determine that the bezel is genuine based on the photos provided?

Hi! Buyers Premium at Sterling Vault is one of the lowest at 20% + VAT. Sellers fees are also competitively low.
