If it is actually legit, I'm sure many of you will be bidding on this anyway, so figured I would get some opinions. To my eye (and it is untrained):

    1) missing bezel :(
    2) Nice Lollipop seconds hand (is it appropriate for this model?), but the lume has aged differently. Maybe a later addition
    3) Case seems nice and thick, and movement seems ok.

    What do you guys think?

I have not a lot of idea about the model but... the dial is good?

    Discussed this with Flame.
The bezel is there, just missing the numbers, which is pretty universal with these.
It has a T-Swiss Made-T dial, indicating tritium, when it should have a no-T radium dial, indicating dial may be a later service replacement. I gather the movement # is too early for a 2913-8. These issues may reflect fairly low bidding with only 7hrs to go. Will be interesting to see what it goes for.

Movement number is way too early. A 2913-1 has a 16xxxx movement number. This is a 2913-8 with a 157xxx.

This seller had a bad reputation on VRF a while back for selling fake Submariner bezel inserts. I learned this when researching a potential purchase from him last year. Sample thread: http://www.network54.com/Forum/207593/thread/1292449412/I+got+screwed+in+2009,+or+...-+HELP!
However, others had bought legit and correct pieces from him with no issue.

In the end I bought my Speedmaster 125 from him at auction, since it all looked legit and the price was right. No issues with the watch or the purchase / delivery so I was happy. I think if you're considering buying from him, you'd best know exactly what you're looking for and looking at to avoid getting burned.

2913-8's are in the 16.684.x range...as are the -7's. Both produced in the first half of 1961.
(@cristos71, believe yours is a -7 if I recall correct;-)

So yes, a serial 157x is much to early. The first -1's did came with serial 157x, but most had 16.03x or 16.07x. And that was 3 years before the -8 production!

Anyway Gents, have a look on the rotor. 24jewels adjusted... on a cal 501 ::facepalm2::
2913's only came with cal 501 (19 or 20jewels) or the US cal 500 with 17jewels.
That rotor is properly from a cal 505 :whipped:

Lolli is okay, also on a -8
Case is NOT nice and thick - at all
As for the dial and the T marks, well...that's actually a story for another day ::book::

Bottom line - almost $8K for a parts watch

Someone's going to be gutted when they pull an Extract for this one. It happened to me many years ago with a 165.024.

The emotions apon opening the Extract envelope and reading those few lines of text were: confusion, shock, disbelief and denial followed by numbness, acceptance, anger and rage

Are you talking about a watch purchase, or going to a cinema to watch the latest John Cusak movie? (hard to tell the difference).
