Did anybody here picked up the 2777-2 civilian market that ended a couple of hours ago on ebay? I bidded my heart out unfortunately I fell 15% short. Given it was listed as a regular Omega it sold for good money.
Really nice pickup to the buyer. Just a few digits earlier than my 2777-2 Railmaster. I believe @MSNWatch also has an example of this “sterile” dial version. Achim, @watchyouwant had one as well I think.
it is quite possible, that it was part of the different dial trials for the Railmaster. the swan neck regulator points to that small batch...... kind regards. achim
you will not get confirmation from the factory for that. the movement might come up as delivered with a 1953 Military . kind regards. achim
once you received it, check the profile and let me know, which case profile is yours. kind regards. achim
I’m fairly certain the OP case will match with the case of my 2777-2, shown below, under a 2777-1 RAF 53.
can you please measure the lug hole diameter? the 2777 cases still have fixed bars. but a different case profile to the 1953 case , 2777-1. The 2777-2 have drilled through lug holes and a different case profile. they appear to be a new manufactured case middle , fitted with old spare backs. the Omega factory had plenty of the 1953 mil. spare cases left and started the transition to the Railmaster from the shelves. and that`s where the movements came from as well. therefore many appear in the Archive as 1953 Military movements. used years later. there are more quirks to that Railmaster Birth. kind regards. achim
I was bidding on this also. Glad it went to you. Also, this is 2 serials away from an identical one sold by bain a few years ago. 2. Unreal.
The 2777-2 arrived safely today! The downside is it's missing the crystal tension ring, so the movement is a bit loose in the case. With a little luck, I'll be able to source the ring and it'll be on my wrist soon. More pictures to come.
do you have luminous wells on the dial? or is everything just prined on? if it is not the thick soft iron dial, it will be rattling in the case..... just have a look. kind regards. achim
Hi Achim, luminous wells? In this picture you can see the stem from the front, which is why I thought maybe it is rattling because of a missing tension ring.
Kyle, in your pics. it looks like the lume dots at 7 and 8 are missing. is that the light or is the lume missing? these dots look printed on the dial. the soft iron thick dial has luminous wells engraved into the dial for the lume. are they deep engraved and filled with lume ? kind regards. achim
