New poster, hoping the forum can shine a little light on a watch that my father had as a boy in the 1940s. Peering under the balance shows the calibre to be 26.5SOB T2.

The number on the inside of the caseback is 9725708, which would seem to come from 1942-1943 according to various internet resources. The outside of the caseback is unhelpful, it just has an engraving of my father's name and address.

Can anyone tell if the hands/face are original? Lovely blued hour and sub seconds hands, gold-toned minute hand.

I've spent a fair amount of time looking at threads on this and other forums for similar watches, and I've not seen any with the same face/numbers/hands. Omega logo also looks a little strange to me, slightly taller/thinner than most ones i've seen. Any ideas?

    Welcome! Nice screen name. ;)

No, unfortunately they aren't. The dial has been repainted, and the hands are mismatch replacements.

Thanks for the input, most helpful. I'm not terribly worried about sale value, I'll hang onto this one as it was my dad's.

Good call. These can be nice to collect but aren't worth much - under £200. With the dial and hands as they are, I wouldn't expect it to fetch even close to that.

Hi, it looks like a 2102 or a 2089 (depends on the size, 28.5mm or 30.5mm). Here in the 1940 catalog :

Mine has what also seems to be an older redial :

I know this is a very old thread but I'm just curious what the SOB stands for with the calibre of this watch? My father has just picked up a 1930s Cal 26.5 SOB in 9ct gold.
