Well that I can agree with. At one point I had both the black GMT and a 40mm Explorer-2. The Omega was the better watch all round. I moved the Rolex on and now have a Great White. I may have thought differently though of course if mine had suffered issues too!

Yes, the 16570 has especially a very poor lume in comparison.

I used to wear my 2234 on cordura bracelet. Light and very nice. Good souvenirs from my archives.

My go to watch. And I have several hundred. I wear it for swimming and overseas travel. Massively underrated IMO. F7465C97-DC4A-4406-8CF7-D98650CE87E7.jpeg

GMT one of the best feature on a watch.

A nice little difference with Rolex cal.3135 :

on Omega cal.1128, the Gmt hand is under the hour hand (and not above)

Yep, mine also suffered that "hour wheel stucking at 10" problem a couple of years ago. My watchmaker replaced it and since then... knock on wood... it runs fine.

Honest question: Why? Are you travelling through different time zones a lot? I personally find it pretty fancy but rather useless.

You know I never noticed this about the Explorer II before, that would not do for me at all, especially the newer variant with the more dominant GMT hand. That riding over the hour hand would seem just wrong.

Man this seamaster has been on my radar for a few years now been wanting one as a travel watch. However, seems prices have taken a jump by a few hundred bucks since last year. Truly an underrated reference

I just noticed this too. I got one for around $1700 earlier this year, but now people are asking closer to $2250-2500

I've had this watch for almost a year now, and I find myself loving it more and more. For some reason I've been too dumb previously to realize that the 24 hour bezel also works fine as a timing bezel - as long as you don't need to be accurate to the minute. And I sort of prefer a bi-directional timing bezel, since I'm not actually diving.

So, now, I can conquer changing timezones and timing meal prep with one watch! To reiterate the theme of this thread: it's no GMT Master II, but it's a damn good GMT for the cost.

I’ve become so used to the helium valve on my Seamasters, that all the times I’ve looked at these GMT versions, I’ve never noticed the lack of the helium valve- now it’s been pointed out, my mind is blown..!
How have I never noticed this..!

Also, as much as I like this edition.. that 6 and 18 mixed colours ruin it for me, personally.

I bought mine a few years ago and for a while loved the bi-colour bezel. I wore it frequently, but it never matched up to my 2254. Eventually I realised that it's bezel has fallen out of favour with me. I sourced an aftermarket all black gmt insert and I’m back in love with it again (no doubt it will change again at some point so I have the original insert to go back in when required!)

How is that aftermarket bezel holding up for you ? The all black look definitely revives the design and makes it even more appealing.

I only replaced the insert and it’s still fine. It’s aluminium as per the original but shear as chips. Maybe $30 or so. If it gets damaged I’ll just replace it or maybe by then I’ll go back to the original.

I own both, and I must say the Omega Seamaster GMT feels nicer on the wrist, I like the sculptured dial better. but Rolex is an "investment"
