I got this on eBay the Inscription on the back was cool. The gentleman inherited it and was never going use it and was not attached to it. I expected a watch on a broken twist a flex band what I got was some really cool history. the little watch was brown with some Windex and a paper towel it cleaned up to shiny, new band on and the man sent its box with all paperwork, it's small 33 mm case, not my size but look at this score

I'm not sure if 'cool' is the adjective I'd use on that inscription, perhaps I'd call it 'cryptic', but is sure is a nice looking watch. Probably has a Caliber 280 inside, a very nice movement not too far below the Caliber 30L in the Longines pecking order. I've owned a couple and they are always reliable and very easy for a watchmaker to service.

Very nice piece, I was following this one too, considered getting it... I really like the 280 series movements (284 especially). Enjoy!

    Nice watch

"Dresser" probably refers to Dresser Industries, a multinational corporation now headquartered in Dallas.

That date is what confuses me most about the inscription. I've never seen a retirement with only the year the receiver commenced work. Every one I've seen has had either a range of dates, in this case 1941-1967, or alternatively the year it was presented.

he said he retired in 1980 so I'm not sure not much room on the 33mm watch, seller seemed not attached to it even slightly. the jeweler will get it open in a few weeks

Maybe the MMM Division was established in 1941, or 1941 was an anniversary of the MMM division.
