23.7 Caliber Oil Chart / Oils to be used?

Does anyone have access to an oil chart for the 23.7 caliber (first version)? I have searched online to no avail. I recently just purchased my first vintage Omega (I am excited to be part of the brand!) and wanted to know if anyone has specific suggestions for oils to be used for oiling? (I am sure that this is a topic of conjecture.) Would modern oil sets, like Moebius 9010, 9104, 941, and 8200 be acceptable?

Best,
Ian

Likely Omega 23.7? From circa 100 years ago? If that is the watch, it was probably lubed with whale oil back then. Might there have been an oiling chart ever published for that? I’d say not likely. Modern oil types used where appropriate would likely be fine, I’d say.

Canuck,

Yes, the 23.7 S movement from 1918-23! Thanks for your input. The movement is numbered 5941592. I am not sure if it is in it's original case - the case back interior is stamped:

"PURE NICKEL
CHROMIUM
PLATED
SWISS MADE"

If anyone has any ideas on whether the case is original, I would love to know. I would also love to know if it is possible to narrow down the movement to a specific year instead of the ranges I have found online (in this case, 1918-23).

Thanks!

The "oil charts" you refer to are a modern thing - back when this movement was made professional watchmakers were expected to know their shit, so no charts required.

This is a simple manual winding movement, so no great mystery what oils should be used. Just use whatever you normally use for a manual wind movement of this size. IMO you would need 9010, 9104, 9415, and some grease (9504 is what I use).

Cheers, Al

Thanks Al!

I am still fairly new to watch making and I appreciate your input and the background on oil charts!
