Can you fit a 20mm leather strap on the Ed White which is 19mm between the lugs? Premium leather straps are a bit expensive and would love also to able to use them on some of my other watches ...

I am looking at some Molequin straps !

Hi I think the best option is to find ready-made 19mm ones or custom make one.

You can, but it'll be a tight fit. For an expensive strap, it might bunch it up to the point that it might not look very good if you decided to put it back on a 20mm lug, so it's up to you whether or not it's worth doing.

You can try 19mm curved springbars. It helps remove the slight bunching.

Hmm, never tried curved bars with a straight-end strap. Do they take to it well?

Nice options in 19mm at Bandrbands. Or go custom. Not as expensive as one thinks. Besides... come on... your Ed White deserves it.

If the leather is supple (like most leather is) a bit of pressure with the springbar tool is all it takes to make it squeeze in nicely...

Depends on the strap. I’ve seen it done on softer straps. I’ve got a few straps it will not work on.

Does work with NATO type straps.

Ugh a NATO with straight spring bars is like nails on a chalkboard to me... I know Omega's NATOs are 1mm wider than the lug widths of their watches, in anticipation of them being worn on curved bars

I think Molequin makes 19mm? But I'm sure they do custom straps :)

Yes if the strap is soft. This is a 20mm

I think the 'ridged' 20mm (lower one above) straps look good on an EW (assuming its soft enough to not bunch at the lug), but personally I feel the flat 20mm ones look too broad for the slightly more delicate EW case, even if they do sit well between the lugs. I now have a range of 19mm natos bought from Gnomon, as I was fed up with the slight bunching of the 20mm natos. I'm also in the process of buying a 19mm Rallye strap, for when I want to dress it up a bit.

I got two 19mm at Bandrbands. The Chestnut Classic and the Chicago Tan are my favorites. Check their website a lot of good options. I also like their camel suede but they dont make them in 19mm :( It feels like butter.
