Well after fairly conventional cricket yesterday and this morning its been a demolition job by the England batters in the afternoon session. 178 runs off 25 overs since lunch.
Setting up for another cracker. Let's hope there's no weather to spoil the fun in the next few days.

Need Brook and Stokes to steady the ship a little bit but that was a fantastic partnership from Crawley and Root. Top level batting.

Australia in dire straits here, even with rain threatening
The forecast is pretty dire for tomorrow and Sunday not much better. I suspect @STANDY has been doing a rain dance :whipped:

It’s England, five days of sun is rare 😝

Must say to bat so well and have a test match rained out would be a disappointment for England. (Knowing they won’t be able to win the ashes)

Is it possible to do a sun dance? I'm doing it if so (old channel 5 cricket theme). Whatever happens tomorrow - great series, draw looking favourite in this test - Aussies played well today so fair play. 👍

How much of a dick is Piers Morgan 😗

British media personality and cricket lover Piers Morgan has been, shall we say, rather vocal about how disappointing it would be if England is denied an opportunity to keep the series alive today.

“It will be the greatest travesty in the history of Ashes cricket if the trampled, battered, beleaguered, Bazballed, desperate,white-flag-flying Aussies now avoid inevitable defeat and retain the urn because of bloody rain,” he wrote ahead of day four.

I find it weird that the pile on for Australia being lucky that it is raining and the talk of Australia shouldn’t retain the ashes due to weather….

News flash…they won the first two tests. 😗

About as much of a dick as anyone could imagine.
Loathable POS.
A Murdoch lacky, say no more.

The answer to losing is to do better sooner.
A shame if the weather decides … potentially could have gone either way, no game is lost till it’s won.

Good on yuh Oz!

P.S. You are welcome to Eddie Jones btw.😉

And so what could have been one of the greatest ashes test series ends miserably.a sport that tries everything that it can to attract a younger audience by being thrilling and exciting is robbed of a showcase finale at Lords because of typical English weather. So sad.

It wasn’t our rain that did it, should have picked a dryer place to put a country

Both sides will still want to win the last Test. Australia to say "it was us that won, not the weather doing it for us" and England to say "see, if not for the weather we would have won".

if it’s a draw in this test and England win the 5th to make it 2-2 could always do a count back to the last ashes and mash the 2 together

C'est la vie...yeah a shame about the weather but I'm sure there will be another time when England will be grateful for rain. I think i can now safely say congrats to the Aussies & their supporters for retaining the Ashes - well played! If England had Wood & Woakes for the first two matches it could perhaps have been different but hindsight is a wonderful thing and don't want to be just another whinging pom like Piers Morgan. Perhaps time for Jimmy Andersen to walk off into the sunset at almost 41, a legend of the game, I hope he gets a send off befitting that, but he's done nothing of note in this series...and as Warney said, it's better to go when people are asking why are you retiring, rather than why don't you....

If England

As my dear departed father used to say “If your aunty had balls, she’d have been your uncle” 😉

Haha, point taken. I think England missed a trick with Mark Wood in particular, Australia don't historically like facing express pace and Wood was a must for me. It was the same situation with Devon Malcolm - Devon was erratic but he could cause real problems on his day - heard Steve Waugh say as much before...!

Piers Morgan is a twat and most of us in the UK know that and ignore him anyway.
The match is drawn. Disappointing? yes frustrating? Definiteley but England have benefitted from rain many times over the years. It is what it is. Suck it up and move on to last test.
A win for Eng and a drawn series would at least mean Aus only retain the urn rather than win it outright. That in utself is worth playing for.

No sour grapes here. Looking forward to the last test.

Crap way to end the Ashes. After a brilliant series. And will still sadly be remembered for the Jonny Bairstow stumping.
