Yes, been busy trying not to get distracted by it at work. Very gettable target for Aus. Have to hope there's clouds and lots of lovely swing tomorrow...

Absolutely. Thankfully I’m sick at the minute with tonsillitis so I managed to watch fulls days play yesterday and today. With any luck my fever doesn’t break overnight and I’ll get to see the conclusion.

You’ll always leave yourself open to some soft dismissals with Bazball but my god it makes test cricket more entertaining.

Having got Covid AND put my back out I’ve been laid up in bed for the week. What a stroke (reverse sweep) of luck. Watched it all and loving every second. It’s a classic series already…
I shall be there at Lords in 2 weeks.

I'm backing Australia for the win. Not for any particular reason - I think the game is perfectly poised after 4 days and it could go any way - just because I'm an Aussie 😀

@Norfolk is going to Lords and I’m at a couple of days of Headingley.
Any other members going to any of the Tests?

As good a reason as any, its shaping up for a cliffhanger

I could have gone today for £25 and have in fact driven past Edgbaston twice today close enough to hear the fans bellowing in the Hollies Stand. Sadly work commitments got in the way of my attendance. About 10 of my mates are there getting slowly plastered.

Oh I see Boland has just been Bowl-ed.

Bit of a nail biting finish. 3 left, but you'd never write the Aussies off...

I was flicking through tv channels late one night and came across Cricket. I was instantly captivated. I have come to abhor most American sports - I'm completely DONE with the NFL. They kneel, I walk away. Never liked baseball or hockey. I discovered Rugby and loved it, played it in college and after college on an "old boys" side.

Like in Rugby, Cricket played are all polite. To the referee/umpires and to each other. Nobody has a hissy fit if he takes a call or doesn't get one. Nobody flops to the ground in mock agony, as if they're trying for an Oscar award.

And finally, with Cricket, all the commentators have British accents. 😀 They use such colorful terminology describe plays.

Bazball was going to do what…..they basically got an average score to bowl out Australia for the same score and then got another average score….

And game 1 to the Aussies

What a great advert for 5 day cricket. The contrast in styles. Both teams playing a positive brand of cricket.very refreshing and something I would pay to watch.
Test cricket has been in danger of becoming less relevant in a world where the quick gratification of the shorter forms of the game seem to have captured people's imagination. Especially when some test matches over past years seemed to highlight a fear of losing rather than being willing to entertain and take ambitious decisions to ensure a result is achieved.
I applaud both teams for a great match and hope England can get some reward for their style of play in the next match.

Or if the Stokes catch had stuck or if a couple of chances had been taken by Bairstow in the first innings.

Fine margins, but there are "no pictures on the scorecard" so at the end of the day it's just a loss.

It shouldn't (and won't) however mean a complete change of the new aggressive England just as it shouldn't (and won't) be seen as vindication of Australia's more Conservative approach.
Both sides played their own game and the game was on a knife edge throughout. Please let's have 4 more similar test matches to complete the series.

Was a good watch, I must say.

Both teams have some dinosaurs so it will be interesting in the years to come once they are moved on…
