    IMG_5157.JPG Hi all,

Of course, for all the reasons we all know, 2020 has been a real disaster. To top things off, this is the first year that I can remember, that I haven't purchased a watch. Not because I didn't want to....2020 really sucks. Hopefully 2021 will be the year where the proverbial elevator will go back up from the basement. I feel fortunate to be healthy, to still have a job and a few very nice timepieces to keep me happy.

    Cheers,

Yeah we have seen better days but hope everyone is doing okay ,better days are coming though .Neither did I buy a new timepiece but our health and the health of the people around us is more important than watches. For now lets be patient and wait for this madness to end.:)

I purchased a few this year, but I think the most expensive was $60. I blame the "ebay recommendations" thread. BTW @Faz is your Yema vintage, or is that one of the newer ones? I can't tell. I'm thinking vintage though. They are just different enough that I'd like to pick one of those up.

My shit year began at the end of last October. Only because I've been spectacularly fortunate to have a) started a much better job literally a month later, and b) been able to keep it through all this, have I been on such a tear acquisition-wise this year. Still been an absolute shit time though. Hoping everyone's got a much better 2021 coming up!

Over that last few years, I moved on from vintage. I gravitated towards re-issues. Thé Yema is one of those. Very interesting watch. Cool and affordable.

Totally agree, what’s gone on is far more important than a watch. I’ve been lucky. I am a contractor in the city and my contract has been extended twice since COVID struck while many were left out. It’s made me realise that watches are not the be all and end all. Don’t get me wrong, I still love them but while I’d have probably sold and bought many I’m now more cautious - I’d have an Ed white on my wrist now if I followed my usual form.

This year I’ve sold three and bought 1 at a reasonable gain to me and I love the few I have now. If anything this may have taught me that less can sometimes be more.

The year started with the massive brush fires in Australia, then Kobe Bryant, his daughter and friends/crew lost in the helicopter crash, and then the year quickly went further downhill from that sad state of affairs.

My colleagues and I have seen Furloughs and layoffs taking place in mid-March, but then followed by all people coming back to work by mid-May. Then the hiring of a new draftsman as the company realigned and focused on improving the old products and creating some new products. Our workload was spotty through much of the summer, but has strengthened starting September.

from the boss on down, we are grateful to be moving ahead -in any manner -through the close of 2020.

Both at work and personally, we have all been doing our best to support the restaurants and other service businesses that have been so hard hit this year.

looking forward to having 2020 in the rear view mirrors, and onward to a better ‘21.

No watch purchases here either. On the bright side, most things turn sooner or later, much like the Australian bush which is already repairing itself as we cycle back into the wetter "La Nina" weather pattern. Hoping 2021 is better for everyone here on OF and elsewhere.

Well @Faz, new watches or not, I continue to enjoy your contributions to OF. And the forum itself continues to be a bright spot through challenging times.

well, there WAS that shoddy period with both the COVID speculation thread as well as that *other* thread (you know, about buying gold, etc.)... but every relationship has its rough patches
