Got a blue seamaster about a month ago and initially it was as advertised at around +2 spd. Took it to Europe with me for about 2 weeks and now it’s at about +0 spd to -4spd. How long do you usually give your new watches to “set in?” Thanks guys!

No more than 2 days. Movements don't really break in unless it's been sitting unused for a while.

Would you recommend a service at this point?

I'm not certain, but I think 0spd to -4spd is within specifications. I would not think service is required. Perhaps more learned folks here can confirm what I am saying??

Unless the timing is erratic, a service is unnecessary. I would recommend a skilled watchmaker to regulate it.

First thing is to ask your watchmaker to demagnetize it. We are literally covered in magnets nowadays. The magnets in an iPad smart cover, for example, are very strong. Set your watch on your iPad overnight, and your watch can become magnetized.

Aaahhh the new seamaster is resistent to 15000 gauss.. Which should be far and above an iPad cover
