i know its a prototype and not the final product but come on tag... you had the perfect opportunity here.
i can understand the 42mm, you need a modern size to help the sales a little bit.
i can't get the thickness at 15.64mm but most of all... what the hell where you thinking with the date???
seriously who saw this and thought it would look better with a date ::facepalm2::

Not a fan at all. The watch is completely out of balance. The huge bezel looks comical...and WhyTF is the date sideways?

My guess is that the date wheel is printed to show the date at 3 o'clock. been a prototype they didn't bother and left it that way

Best thing that they could do is drop the "TAG" from all their watches.

Considering the date will help the watch sell to non-hardcore watch nerds, I think it's OK.... but the thickness is distressing.

so disappointing. it's out of balance and massive. bezel is way too big. 42mm is too big for my taste and wrist. they should remove the date to get the thickness down to 10-12mm -- 15.64mm is ridiculous.

Urk. That bezel is really huge. And the date so unnecessary.

That is as thick as my 1st gen 45.5 POC if not thicker. Wow really? A 7750 or sw500 movement with 100m wr and a sapphire back can be as thin as 14.2 in a 42mm watch. That is just insane.

Why not increase the subdial size to balance it out and match the proportions of the original watch. It would go along way deemphasize the bezel.

Tag is pretty notorious for effing up their modern reinterpretations of classic Heuer designs.
The Siffert and Orange Boy Autavias were a mess. The Monza looks like a blind chimpanzee designed the cushion case. And the less said about the Jack Heuer Calibre 17s the better.
The only reissues they got somewhat right were the Carrera 1964s which were basically identical copies.
Actually understand the date inclusion from a purely demographic standpoint but the window sizing, wheel color and corresponding text above the window is a sloppy mess.
The case looks like it's already been haphazardly polished to an amorphous blob.
I was really hoping against hope that they'd successfully integrate a gorgeous vintage look with modern movements and materials but alas, they've crapped the bed once again.

Well, at least Longines is still going strong.

I can never decide who's designs I like less, Tag or Breitling. Both always looks very busy and almost chaotic to me, but clearly some folks like em.

This is just cringeworthy, can't believe this is the same company that made the original Autavia's.....so sad.

Cannot understand why watchmakers keep thinking a date feature can appeal to a bigger crowd. I hope it can improve this prototype coz its really too thick. If I want a big watch, I will just go for PAMs.

I can't stop laughing! The exact same words went through my mind when I saw the date! WTF? ::screwloose::And I agree, the got lazy and simply added a wider bezel to account for the increased case size. Pull it together!::rant:

I love Longines but they have majorly Fkd up some potentially great watches with superfluous date additions....

You can just imagine the WWII Czech RAF ace, "
Tally Ho, I say Biggles what's today's date ? Ah lorks a Lordy don't worry, I can see it with this tiny little window intruding on the subdial on my otherwise perfectly designed timepiece ..."

Idk it fixes the problem of the subdial being to high and small.

Look at them together. The proportions are totally different.

I stand by the comment the remake needs a larger and lower located sub second. But with movements staying the same size and watches getting bigger not going to happen. The remake needs the date to balance it.

I have my name down for one of these at the local AD, but if it looks like this they won't be getting a sale unfortunately. I can almost forgive the date but the bezel is out of balance to my eye and it's far too chunky

Let's hope they make some significant changes before going to production.
