As a Daytona owner I like the new model in platinum although I think ceramic is a poor choice in this particular case especially for a platinum watch, but I especially like the fact that they kept it 40mm, between this and the Omega '57 it seems the Swiss are finally staying NO to increasing case sizes which is a step in the right direction for sure.

As for the impact of this new watch, well its a halo piece for the Daytona line rather than a watch everyone will buy but its a far cleaner and more attractive halo piece than the rainbow of last year or the leopard edition. Groundbreaking and unique however it really isn't, especially compared to the Speedmaster '57 and Speedmaster Darkside released by Omega so far this year.

The dial is glacier blue which is in keeping with Rolex's other platinum models. The bezel and subdials are actually not black but chestnut brown coloured. The person who designed it was probably a Rolex employee 😁

I am unsure about the brown bezel. I will get some wristshots when I'm in Basel next week 👍

I know that blue goes with Platinum, and I see the bezel is brown - what I'm asking is who thought those colors together would look good? 🤮

There are odd shading colors of brown in the bezel too 😕. They do well with their black & rosegold combo. Not sure about this one.....
Dark side of the moon speedmaster definitely looks cooler and will steal more attention IMO.

I'm not sure about the Daytona, but I wouldn't mind owning this vintage platinum 1804 (from 1967), which a Carmel dealer has listed for only $40,000! I don't usually like bling, but I'd make an exception for this...

Is this a trap? Uh-oh lol

Unless that's your car, then that's exactly what I mean.

(if that's your car, I love it.).

the watch matches the car!
Yep Ash's car alright. What was the tip off , the snow on the pavement? 😁
