Hey all first time posting here And would appreciate some knowledge. I was looking at buying this seamaster 300m professional in a couple of days it has all paper work and warranty cards ,its looks in pretty good condition the guy brought it in 2009 so its the older modle with the aluminum bezel. Hes asking AUD $2900 for it and id just like some advice if that is a reasonable price or what to look for on the watch in terms of Condition or your opinion on it thanks.
For UK prices it's about spot on but prices may vary around the world. If it hasn't been serviced you can use to get the price dropped a little.
Also iv been looking around for a watch that looks like this to see if i can spot any differences, and the only few i can find with the red seamaster just under the omega logo with the black wave dial is apparently some kind of bond addition, but the guy selling it hasnt mentioned anything about it and of course im not gonna ask him because he'll probably raise the price. Can anyone confirm or deny this? see link below http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=112066
Not a special or limited edition. The "Bond" reference is to the fact that this general model (Seamaster Professional Diver with 300m water resistance) is the one worn by Pierce Brosnan in his James Bond films, as well as by Daniel Craig in Casino Royale. There are some particular Bond LEs, but they all have noticeable modifications such as the 007 logo on the dial, second hand, and so forth. This isn't one of those. That said, the one worn in the movies is the blue dial, not black. As far as the 2009 blue dial model in the original post, as said above, it depends on whether it's been serviced ... It's probably getting close to needing one if it hasn't been. The standard service charge is in the area of US$600 or thereabouts, I think ... Price ranges are posted on the official Omega website.
I'd say it's a bit on the high side as $2900 AUD to US is ~$2250, which is about 10% higher than I usually see these, but again that is using USD to AUD direct conversion and I'm not exactly sure if Omegas are usually more relatively expensive down under. However, as stated before, if it was recently serviced then the price is good, as the refinishing, cleaning, lubing, etc for a watch that is in the range for needing it is worth the relative price difference.
