I went to the Tourneau Store at Pentagon City, just outside DC, and surprised to learn that Tourneau will no longer carry Omega. All their remaining stock of new Omega watches are to be sold with a 20% discount. They had about two dozen Omega left, including several ATs, POs and Speedys. If you live near a Tourneau you might want to check it out.
No surprise that Tourneau would be stingy with the discount on a brand they won't be carrying anymore. Boutique only, here we come! Fits right in with the Swiss' business plan of total control.
Interesting. I remember other stores like Jared's sold out at much higher discount prices. Oh Tourneau
Last night I checked the website of my local AD - it's a family-run branch of a slightly larger chain of stores (only a few stores). They seem to be offering very large discounts on all new Omegas, including about £1100 of a new DSOTM! I might have to swing by and have a look at what's in the window...and what has driven the sudden discounts...
It's Omega's move to company owned and controlled boutiques only. They're gradually cutting off independents. It's the Swiss business model. Don't think other industries aren't doing it either.
