20/16 vs 20/18 tapered strap on 42mm Speedy Case

Assuming average wrist size (I'm 6.5") any feedback on the best taper size for a pin buckle strap on a 42mm Speedmaster?
(from an esthetic perspective as I am sure fit is fine on both).

Thanks
Brad

I have both, both are fine. I tend to like the 18 mm buckle because it just looks more substantial, but 16 mm is ok, too. 7.5" wrist.

I'm also curious about this...

20/16 nylon or 20/18 nylon on the new speedy? Which is nicer?

Can’t say one is better than the other; it’s really a personal choice. I personally think the taper to 16mm looks more elegant, while the taper to 18mm will look sportier. If you are considering aftermarket straps, you will also find a lot more options at 20/18 than 20/16.

Do you have any wrist shots of both, Don?

I find 20/16 looks like too much of an excessive taper on a 42mm watch, it's fine on something that's 38mm or 36mm etc. But it just ends up making the watch head look massive and the strap tiny on a 42mm like a lollipop head with a thin stick.

20/20 looks overly hyper masculine and like something you'd find on some excessively thick diver, a Casio G-Shock or a Panerai - I never liked the 20/20 bracelet on the Bond Seamaster 300.

I think 20/18 is the best option on the Speedmaster to be honest both for straps and bracelets - and 20/16 if you're rocking a vintage 39mm Speedmaster or FOIS.

The way I see it, there's no best for the Speedmaster. It's more on what kind of strap you'd be using.
On a thicker type of leather strap, I prefer a 20/18 where as for a thinner more elegant one, I would prefer a 20/16.

For steel bracelets, no more than 20/16 as I hate the chunkiness of the steel.

My 2cents.

Sure is and thanks for the pics. I see the sporty style vs the 16mm taper.
(who makes the strap, btw?)
