    Apologize for the basic questions:
    1) Are all movements in speedmasters manual wind? For example, 1861?
    2) Is there a reason that some speedmasters have "professional" on the face and some don't?
    Thanks.

    1) No there are many Speedmaster automatics, the Pro line (in its purest form, not including models like the X-33) are manual wind
    2) The Pro line are the manual wind family that have the historical connection to the original, the Speedmaster Automatics etc are offshoots of that family tree and quite a bit removed from the originals.

    The earliest Speedies were pre-professional, 2915, 2998, 105.002 and 105.003 (1957 - 1965 reference dates)

Best to hit the books at speedmaster101.com for your undergraduate studies. Moonwatch Only is available for a masters degree.

    Thank you.
So all Speedmasters with "Professional" are manual wind? And if there is no "Professional" they're automatic? Or is that too simplistic?!

For current examples, does that mean that the Speedy Tuesday watch is manual wind but the new '57 Speedmaster is automatic?
