Recently bought a Speedmaster described as 1995/6 by the seller. Tritium dial and movement is labelled 861 with serial 48352101 which, from what I can find online, should be a 1861 from 1998. Just wondering if anyone knows if the 861 was actually made into that serial range or if there is something odd here. It is not a huge deal as I am generally happy with the watch but curious to know. Couple of caseback and movement photos attached. Cheers, Tony
I have 2 that are close to yours, both t swiss made t dial. 145.0022 serijska: 48347xxx (mar. 1996) Cal: 861 Bracelet: 1499/842 145.0022 serijska: 48363xxx (sep.1997) Cal: 1861 Bracelet: 1499/842
According to MWO 1st edn, tritium 345.0022s with 861 yellow and 1861 rhodium were produced in 96-97 with movement serials in the range 48.339 - 48.385 so your serial with an 861 looks ok. Omega started using Luminova in them in 1997 with serials starting from 48.355.
Many of the tables published on line are incorrect. Using the predictive tool that was developed by members here using extracts, this is the result for your watch: Results for 48352101 Extract Prediction 1996, December From here... https://www.ilovemyspeedmaster.com/productiondateprediction/ Cheers, Al
Thanks for all the responses, good to hear it is correct, have attached a dial shot. The watch came on what I think is the modern speedmaster bracelet with push button clasp release. Have to say this bracelet does not work for me, way too clunky, no taper to the clasp and am guessing it is not correct for 1996. Have put the watch on a strap and think I will probably sell the bracelet. Thanks again. Tony
