Evening everyone. Saw this Speedmaster for sale and would like to know if it looks all original. It’s described as original and it’s purchase date is 1985. Doesn’t come with any papers and comes from a jewellers.
Asking around £5000. Thanks for any advice. 3D21B49D-0788-47D7-A2FB-648976DEE6AF.jpeg 1FF6E518-6A9A-4921-BDB9-F6768BCD14EA.jpeg A993BAF2-A411-4DD3-993C-382DBC461614.jpeg C913D595-BB11-408B-8034-C76C8CCA75A0.jpeg 9EBB67B0-8DB0-4208-811F-EDF27B64B283.jpeg

Bezel is later, early 90s. You can just make out the serial, is it 48.27m? If so then it is from more like 1991. Maybe confirm serial with the seller. The end links are later, they weren't laser inscribed in the 80s. I get the feeling this is maybe one to avoid tbh as you are paying a 80s premium for a 90s watch.

+1…£5000 is way too much for a 3590.50 with what appears to be a non-original service bracelet.

Yeah the bracelet isn’t right full stop. Even mid 80’s they were on 1450 or 1479. Too expensive.

Can't remember - what year did they start inscribing the SN on the lug? Definitely after '85

I know that lately the price for the Monnwatches go up but in also in my opinion 5k it's to much for this watch.

Clearly a seller who doesn’t know that much about Omega Speedmasters. A Speedy from around 1985 should have a serial in the 46 to low (ish) 47 mill.

I have a Speedy from 1985 with a production date in april and that is a low 47 mill. according to the extract.

From what I can see, at least major parts of this watch are not from 1985. As others have already mentioned, the bezel and end links are not from 1985. Also, the case shows a serial number. There was no serial number engraved on the case in 1985. That was not done until the early 1990's.

All in all, I would not pay the asked price for this watch, especially if getting a 1985 watch is important to you!

Thanks everyone for all your advice. I wasn’t specifically looking for a 1985 watch it just caught my eye. I certainly won’t rush into buying anything without asking for some advice.
