As a very young man I was stationed at Clark Air Base, Philippines the mid 80s. When I went to buy a watch in 1984, these are nearly the exact prices I saw. I seriously considered spending more than a month’s pay on that Cosmograph thingy but bought a 100 dollar Seiko instead. (Not a small amount for me) There are a few more pages of watches if anyone cares to see.

It's funny how the value of the DD has changed so little compared to the Daytona and Sub

    Precious metal....

but what’s interesting is the Sub vs Sub date and Sub Date vs the “Daytona. “. But that’s a no Daytona cosmograph. I thought those where before 1980 by a few years.

...And in today’s market, the Daytona is still approximately 3X the price of a Speedy moon watch..

And from Omega a $5 price difference between a Speedmaster Pro and a plain and ugly gold top Quartz Date- they were really lost during this period and the design department just didn't seem to have a clue.
