I'm selling this sweet, black and orange vintage Caravelle diver, in excellent condition with excellent NATO strap. The case width w/o crown is a healthy 38.5mm, lugs 20mm. The caseback has light scratches, and 3 lugs have small, light scratches from strap changes. The dial is in perfect condition. I like the combination steel/red-orange hour markers and bright orange seconds hand. Also, check out the applied stainless-steel '12' and '6'.... these are cool! Specks in the photos are merely dust. The tritium dots and tritium bars in the hands illuminate well for a minute or so, not much after that. The bezel is uni-directional, but rather stiff and difficult for me to rotate. YMMV. Timekeeping is a consistent 12-18s fast per day in all positions on full wind. Service history is unknown. Comes with the black NATO strap seen in the photos; No box or papers. Disclaimer: There is no guarantee of water resistance. Although it would probably be OK for splashes, and maybe even a swim, if you wish to dive/swim with this, I encourage a pressure/leak test by your favorite watchmaker first. My price includes Priority Mail shipping to the CONUS, and I accept cash or PayPal... and I like friends and family .... Sale is final, unless my description is grossly wrong, but .... NO WAY ... . PM me here for any questions. Thanks for looking!
Thanks, guys .. Caravelle was actually my very first watch... one bought for me by my parents when I was about 9 years-old. Believe it or not, I still have it! A 1967 hand-winder...
I updated/corrected the ad regarding condition; originally I thought it was mint, but after looking more closely in bright sun, I could see very small lug scratches that were difficult to see last night, so I changed to 'excellent'. I was asked if the case is stainless steel, or chrome-plate, and I'm not 100% sure. The case-back is labeled steel. The case could be chrome, I suppose, since it is quite shiny, but there is no wear on the watch anywhere to confirm. Other ads for this watch describe it as steel. Feel free to chime in if you know the answer .
Every watch I’ve ever seen with a caseback that reads “stainless steel back” is plated. Regardless, it’s near mint and fantastic value for the money... especially given the modern-ish case size.
Took the kids to play rugby today. Came back and saw this. Another bullet dodged. Hard to resist! Great piece for the price. Congrats again to buyer and seller!
