Hello all, first post here so of course it's gotta be advice. I am contemplating getting a vintage chronograph from 1975 and of the ones that I have checked out, and are in the price range that I am willing to spend. Sub $2000. When I search there are two Omega's come to the forefront every time and really catch my eyes, the 176.0012 and the 176.006. I am not a 'collector' per say so I am not looking for the absolute best example of either with box and papers and all that. The 176.0012, MARK 4.5, I love the looks of it and the Lemania 5100 that it houses. It's also a classic watch that can be worn up or down depending on the occasion. There there is the wrongly named Jedi. Every time I see them I want them BOTH! I love silvery/white dials, and I love blue dials and I love these examples, they both pull at my heart strings. 176.006 - White 176.006 - Blue If any owners of these watches care to weigh in and offer up some advice, tips or criticisms on them I would greatly appreciate them. Thanks in advance! As for the other... there was another great watch that was also available that year, the Zenith El Primero! Now that one may be hard to snag for $2000, but that movement was offered up in several other brands which may prove to be more attainable. I prefer the TV dial like the Jedi's above. Zenith Movado
The 176.006 is not a Jedi. http://grail-watch.com/2015/03/23/hes-no-jedi-debunking-the-omega-seamaster-176-005/
Yes, thanks I was aware of that, but I still prefer to call it that. I should have known better considering where I am posting.
I have a Mark 4.5 and it's my favorite watch. Looks great in almost any band, and not too big to fit under a cuff.
Oh wow!!! That 176.014 is very nice, I will have to research that one. Was that also available in 1975?
those huge slabs of steel do very little for me ... some look good/ok from top, but i find most lacking when seen from the side al
