All - I want to.buy an Omega from the year of my birth. I have seen a lively seamaster 168.0061 at a good price. However reading some articles I understand it should have the words Automatic - Chronometer - Officially Certified on the dial under 'Omega'. This watch just says Automatic. We're some made that only say Automatic on them?

168 is a chronometer prefix. However, many references have a non-chronometer version, so perhaps this is not actually a 168.0061, but a similar watch with a 166 prefix. Please post every photo you have.

Right, so it's probably just a 166.0172, not a 168.0061. Nothing points towards it being a 168.0061. It doesn't have the chronometer grade movement, nor the text on the dial.

What made you think it was a 168.0061?

The listing was 166.0061 and it also says it on the inside of the case. An inferior watch? Still worth buying?

The chronometer version is worth a little more, but that's really just a matter of personal preference. If you like the watch, and the price is good, I wouldn't worry too much about chronometer vs non-chronometer.

The case-back doesn't say 166.0061 anywhere. It is a double reference case-back for the chronometer 168.0061 and the non-chronometer 166.0172. So that case-back can be found on either reference, and you need to use common sense to distinguish between the two. There is nothing about that watch suggesting that it is a 168.0061. If the seller is ignorant about watches, it could be an innocent mistake.
