Nice project, and what a beautiful watch! Would you mind sharing more information about the crown on your watch? Is it the original crown, ref. 42527? I’m restoring a blue dial 166.0173, and the crown was unfortunately missing. I would like to source the original-style crown to complete the watch.

A nice watch! Seems like a robust piece to me. And also really slim.

You got a pretty clean movement there as well. Rotor look pristine which can be very different. Dial and hands also beautiful condition.
I'm personally a big fan of the 1012-1022 series. If serviced right they are just wonderfull movements and will not disapoint you.
Enjoy the watch!

Super cool! I love the crispy case condition and I'm glad the integrated bracelet craze hasn't driven the price of these up like some other references. I'd suggest getting it pressure tested as soon as you can, just for peace of mind. Hopefully it may not need a full service but new gaskets and pressure testing are relatively cheap and worth it if you're wearing it every day. My 1969 Seamaster which was sold as "serviced" had a degraded caseback gasket and I cringe a bit thinking of what could have happened. Yours looks good but there are plenty of disturbing posts on here about water ingress on much newer watches which otherwise seemed perfectly fine.
