So this one is very hard for me to list and to be honest is more of a feeler. So with that said all low ball offers will kindly be ignored. You really don't see many examples like this come up often. The paperwork and what looks to me to be an unpolished case is amazing.... not to mention the patina!!! Details: 1972 1675 Rolex GMT Master Mk 2 Dial Serial: # 3,12X,XXX Dial: Fantastic Mk 2 dial with stunning oragish/yellow (whatever you want to call it pumpkin, lemoncello, etc...) stunning matching lume. Original tritium hands which match perfectly. The watch comes with the correct open 6 and 9 silver date disc. Original mint fat font red back insert. Case: The case is immaculate. I wont say unpolished as I have not owned the watch since it was made, but I will say it is gorgeous with nice chamfers and thick as a brick. Bracelet: Very nice later 78630 Oyster bracelet with 558 end links dated 1/76. Extras: Original box, punched papers from the famed Bucherer of Geneve along with a bunch of other documentation. Excellent extra black fat font insert also included in the sale. The watch is running excellent but service history is unknown. Asking price: $25,700 shipped in the CONUS. International shipping available, cost to be determined by location. Payment by wire, paypal friends and family, or F2F welcome in the Baltimore/Washington area. I do not need to sell this watch so the price is fairly frim. Please let me know if you have any questions. Plenty of references available. View attachment 568526
Ha! Yeah she needs a little something ... Forgot a few pics of the serial, and inserts off the watch front and back as well.
You have a typo on the listing, 585 end links versus 558's, which are primarily used on Datejusts. Love the insert!
Thank you all for the comments. The item is relisted as a dealer won the auction and was unwilling to pay by wire (which was skeptical). The dial and watch are original, as to the lume I will leave that open as I honestly have no idea. I have sent numerous macro pics to many well know people in the hobby and have gotten mixed reviews with the majority thinking it is not but could not be certain. Either way I am just st a collector looking to move some pieces to get another piece which I am sure any collector can understand. Either way here is a macro so feel free to make your own determination and you won’t hurt my feelings regardless of your thoughts. So post away ;-)
Having seen this watch in the metal and under a loupe, I think it's original lume. Very similar to two other rolexes from this era that I own. People will always question everything when it benefits them, not saying that's what's going on, but having spent significant time with this watch, I think the lume looks exactly the same as other "original" pieces.
I own several MK2's, and have handled a few in my time, here is an image of one, both of mine look like the picture I have posted. The OP's dial looks a bit puffy to me (perhaps it's the pics), my experience has been that those dials were prevalent in the 60's on both GMTs & Subs (think meters first.) Lastly, what a great response from the OP, that's the way to handle heavy incoming artillery.
