Hi, I bought a 1972 Omega Seamaster Chronometer Electronic F300 198 0018. When opened it up it had a LR43 battery installed. The watch isnt running. I replaced the battery with a brand new LR43, same result. Is this the correct battery for this watch?

    Thanks

The LR43 is a general 1.5V battery usually used in calculators, instruments etc and is the wrong size and the wrong voltage for this caliber..

The correct battery was a Renata 343 mercury battery, however these are now defunct and the correct replacement is a Renata 344 (1.55V 11.6mmx3.6mm).

You can also use SR1136SW in brands like Maxell and Seikosha which would be my preference over Renata.

If that battery doesn't work you have other issues.

Excellent, thank you! I opened the watch up and it looks really clean inside, so I hope the correct battery starts it up.

The case is in very good condition. Think it just went flat many years ago and was put back in its box. It still has its red dot near the case back.
