    LOL.
    That technique only works when the buyer is desperate & the seller doesn't care if he sells it or not.

    It's hard thinking in terms of the "ultimate" watch. After you buy one, you suddenly might find you like others. The vintage watch bug doesn't just cover higher end watches. Getting into case designs, dial designs, dress watches, tool watches, dive watches, Chronographs, moonphase complications, and movements, might mean that you'll start Jonesing after a whole bunch of watches you might not necessarily wear every day or even every week. I got the bug bad, my rotation is way to high. Today I'm wearing an Omega Dynamic, yesterday I worn this charming bargain basement: IMG_3296.jpg
    If you do get into watch collecting it'll definitely take some time to settle into the zone that most lights your fire. You also may not have the sort of readies to go splashing out on 1000 UKP watches very often. A lot of Omegoids here say buy few watches and go for condition ,condition, and quality quality..good advice I wish I could heed more. I'm getting closer now but still pull the trigger on little temptresses a mite too often!

    I've got the bug but I'm tempered by budget and not wishing to get stung in the vintage market. I've only got one so far and in my opinion it's a cracker. A nice tag carrera with display back

    I've fallen for the omegas big style though and there's a number of ones I like. Love the display backs.

    Sounds like you need to figure out what you like before you start buying. Oh, stay the hell off of Chrono24 and eBay until you are better educated.

    ::confused2::

    Certainly not on ref 14XXXs which this one is...

    I like his style. Might copy it for a watch I have for sale on OF with no takers at the moment :D

    Re. these Constellations, I am honoured to be mentioned as any sort of capacity, but I really don't know a whole lot about them other than the demand simply isn't there at the moment, so an asking price of £999 (come on, be real - £1000) must be for an extremely well taken care of specimen, preferably a full set. I don't see the value here.

    As these aren't that sought after, your best bet would be to study these references (a fairly manageable endeavour), watch the market and strike when you find the watch. It shouldn't cost you more than £500 (£499).

    That's why I needed to see the reference, I know there are exceptions.

    Unless we are talking six digit reference number Constellations (mid sixties and onward), a steel medalion is the exception ;)
    With lugs like this one, it could only be a 14381.

    Good advice but you can't help looking, I've narrowed it down. I want a vintage watch and then a really nice Omega speedmaster moonwatch.

    Which begs the question: a vintage what (watch, obviously)?

    I can only say, buy, buy buy, and get through the Puppy Love stage as quickly as possible.

    Well I think I've found a half decent 1972 Geneva the only thing I can spot that could be an issue to an untrained eye such as mine is the lumes on the fingers. Appreciate any thoughts.
    Serial is 34260445 which by the table I looked at is 1972
