Is the case back severely dented?

there is something strange going on in the picture you posted above

On the bottom edge? I think that's a shadow.

Edit: typing same time the OP is answering 😀

If there are no markings on the inside of the caseback, does it mean it was never serviced?
Seller I'm buying it from has had it for 13 years and wore it maybe 5 times.( He has over 30 watches in his safe.) He has never serviced it cause he doesn't like anyone touching his vintage pieces especially if they're running as they should.

Serial number seems early for a —76

According to speedmaster 101...its a 76.
Very confusing when it comes to serial numbers and dating the watch. Spent hours searching and referencing.

It also has the supporting parts. Even the crown with 24 teeth suggests 70s

May 76
So...

the dial is correct for a -76 but my research says your serial number is too early for that dial.

neither MWO or Speedmaster101 make this distinction.
Additionally the lume seems to have been removed from the dial which affects value.

so what is the price?

How can the lume have been removed? It still lights up.

Perhaps some different pictures would be helpful as it may be an optical illusion but I too get the impression from your existing picture that there's no lume.

Will see it in person tomorrow. It's a bit pricey.
As for the lume, it's similar as the one in the book posted above. (side by side pic). The watch is pretty clean Imo.

Define lights up? It should only stay lit for about 5 seconds at most and quickly fade to virtually nothing by 15 seconds.

we also need to see the other side of the clasp to see if it’s period correct. The omega logo should be in a trapezoid.

So he confirmed with me that the lume fades rather quickly. He took a pic as soon as he turned his flashlight off. Pics is not his forte lol.

@1st speedy
My '76 has a serial number in the 39X range - as suggested by others
The Omega extract confirms production date as August 1978
So 39x numbers may relate to late production examples - and therefore yours may be an early 76?
Moon Watch Only book puts Movement nos – 37.873 xxx – 39.946 xxx
Photo of dial of mine for comparison - tall S in Speedmaster introduced in this reference

Did you pick yours up recently? The photos looked familiar, thought I might have seen up for auction in UK
