    Hi

Been looking for a while to buy a vintage omega and have looked at usual places eBay etc and found a omega deville apparently from the 1970s fitted with a brand new strap, the rear is plain nothing on the casing I have asked the seller if he could send some pictures of the inside for serial numbers etc, the price is only $175 is it worth taking a shot on it? Or is this a fake?

I have attached pictures apologies they are the only ones I have at the moment

I'm completely new to this "spotting fake" business, but have been reading posts with interest, but I'll stick my neck out and wait to be corrected.

To me it looks like the Omega sign and Omega name is not set horizontally, and the hour and minute hands are different widths.
My view would be that it isn't real.

    Tin hat on.......

Hi appreciate your input I must admit I have zero experience in this spotting fake business, so any advice is good before paying out for something not quite legit

Movement and case back picture always needed before you hand over any $$

Would say it's going to be a Quartz. Looks legit but better photos would be needed.

Hundreds of Quartz dress watches made in the 80s so hard to get a match without inside numbers

The minute markers don't seem to match up corrrectly, by that I mean if you put a ruler on any of the markers the lines don't match exactly with the opposite marker. This might be because of the photo angle but no way would it have left the factory like that. I would ask for better, clearer pictures and if you don't get them don't buy it.

Spending more money certainly doesn't guarantee peace of mind. Getting hold of some inside case back and movement pictures might though.

I also think it is a very small watch with diameter of under 30mm, something the OP should be aware of.

Hi thanks, I think I need to look in the rear casing to get the numbers of the watch and go from there really, thanks for the inputs this forum is pretty amazing for novices like myself

I would say it is genuine and manual wind (probably cal. 620 or 625). Just found some picture of a similar watch on google. Could be ref. 511.0531. So it is a model for ladies.
That said I would also say that for me the buckle will be worth more than the watch.

Hi the seller stated it was a manual wind, I found that model and it is pretty much the same just different color scheme, so I'm guessing that this is a ladies watch then although it does look kinda masculine in the silver and black color scheme but as stated the actual dimensions of it would be the giveaway

I'm inclined to think this is a manual wind - have had some like this in for service before:

I would confirm dimensions of the case, but I would not assume it was a ladies model either - the one in the photos above was most certainly a gents watch...

    Cheers, Al
