Up for sale is a watch I sold to my consignor some months back that he has now reluctantly decided to part with, a 100% genuine Israeli Defense Force-issued Eterna-Matic KonTiki Super. This great vintage military diver is 100% original and dates from the 1970s. KonTiki Supers like this one were issued to Israel’s elite naval commando unit, Shayetet 13, some really hardcore Special Forces operatives and essentially Israel’s version of the SEALs. IDF KonTikis are getting scarce in original condition and fakes are rampant, so getting an absolutely no excuses example in overall remarkable Excellent+ condition is a great opportunity. Additionally this rare bird comes on its original full-length Eterna-signed bracelet with correct endpieces and original square clamshell box with correct model hang tag. In this kind of shape and with all these goodies, this is essentially a museum quality example for the advanced collector.

The asking price for this all-time great MilWatch is $4550 USD OBRO including fully insured FedEx shipping worldwide. Bank Wire strongly preferred but Paypal is OK on this transaction with +2% to the buyer. Payment must be made directly to my consignor in US DOLLARS. Watch will ship upon full clearance of the funds, as well as any necessary bank vetting.

CASE & BACK: Large 41mm wide (not including crown) x 45mm long x 14mm thick tonneau-shaped case in Excellent+ original condition with only minor scuffs and some very small nicks to the mirrored finish. Obviously, typical cosmetic grading systems are not particularly pertinent when discussing an issued Military timepiece but this one is truly in exceptionally clean condition. Screw in water-resistant caseback is also extremely clean so likewise Excellent condition. The genuine IDF stock numbers & Hebrew letters are perfectly legible, as is the original Eterna model number on the caseback bevel and the sharp KonTiki logo. All correct internal nomenclature is also present and the back shows no real corrosion.

DIAL & HANDS: Mint condition original matte black dial with applied luminous markers, Eterna-Matic “five-ball” logo and framed date window. The dial shows no flaws that I can see and has all its original green-hued luminous material, which is still light reactive. Original hands with original aged luminous on the short hour and oversized minute hand, as well as the “tail” of the sweep seconds, are likewise Mint and will also glow briefly after light exposure.

CROWN: Original unsigned crown screws down and pulls out to the winding, quickset date and hacking time-set positions as it should. It does have a slight wiggle to it, which I believe to be characteristic of this era of Eterna crowns in general, probably due to a spring in the assembly.

CRYSTAL: Original high-pressure mineral crystal shows some clouding and has some flecks stuck to the underside but is otherwise Near Mint.

BEZEL: Original thick ratcheting unidirectional rotating elapsed time bezel is exceptionally tight and clean with sharp, well defined knurling—Excellent+. The original fat font black & silver inlay shows one or two small scratches and is in Excellent condition and its sunken luminous “12” triangle is intact and has acquired a handsome patina.

MOVEMENT: Eterna-Matic modified 25-jewel ETA cal. 2824 hacking and quickset date high-beat movement is running strong and all functions work as they should. With its gold-tone rotor and a whopping 6 positional & temperature adjustments, this is essentially a Chronometer-grade movement and it keeps excellent time. That said, I do not know the service history of the watch and so cannot guarantee that it will not need service in future. However, I do guarantee that the watch is working well and as described.

BRACELET: This IDF KonTiki comes on its original NSA-made Eterna-signed braclet with correct rectangular end pieces. This full length steel bracelet is on overall Excellent to Near Mint condition with only a few minor scratches to the clasp and one or two link showing a bit of wear. With its spring-loaded extension clasp it should fit up to a 7 3/4" to 8” wrist. One sizes this type of bracelet by pushing out the link pins, which should be done by a professional with the proper tools. This watch has conventional springbars and takes 20mm straps. It definitely wears great on a NATO.

EXTRAS: Making this Kon-Tiki Super even a bit more special it also comes with its original blue Eterna square clamshell box and model hang tag, both in Excellent to Near Mint condition.

As a matter of policy, I make NO guarantees for the water resistance of this watch in any way, shape or form. Have it tested if you want to use it as a diver or for any other aquatic activities.

This great Military KonTiki is offered with a 3-day inspection period from the date of receipt and may be returned for a full refund (less any shipping costs incurred by the buyer). This refund is unconditional and once I get the watch back in exactly the same condition as it was sent to you, your money will be refunded. Of course, once the 3 days are over the sale will be considered FINAL.

    Thanks for looking,
    T.
