Hello everyone, I'm new to the vintage Omega world and I've been offered this in a trade with 2 of my pieces. I've done my research on the reference number, double-stamp, etc. The trade value he's giving me is around $1000 (USD). The strap is not original. It has not been serviced recently, as far as this owner is concerned. Anyone have any advice for me on this? I'm seriously drawn to this watch.
You haven't quite done enough research, that is a 168.023 The other model that shares the case is the non chronometer but otherwise identical 166.032. These are a nice piece but that one has been dinged a little. A serviced minter might well approach $1K USD in value, that one I would put at a little less, $600-750 maybe since it needs a service which will run to $200+ It's difficult to say, but the movement shots which are (deliberately?) blurry seem to show parts with different colours/finishes which may mean it has seen some messing about at some point. There is also a hint of rotor rubbing. It might just be the pics though, maybe ask for a better movement shot.
Sorry I forgot I had another pic of the movement. And I've edited the title to reflect the 168.023, definitely a typo lol.
That's the same blurry pic again, if you have a better one put it up as there are things causing concern on the blurry one. The balance wheel for instance may have corrosion on it, or it may not lol.
I've requested more pictures from the seller. The watches he's looking for in the trade are these: Zodiac Sea Dragon ZO9900 and Squale 1545 Classic. Might not be relevant here but I thought I'd share.
I got a few of these and I really like them. They are great size watches for vintage and they are very hardy. They also look very substantial on a bracelet.
Just for reference, this is what an excellent one looks like, inside and out. Priced fairly and with bracelet https://omegaforums.net/threads/omega-seamaster-day-date-sparkle-dial-168-023.102317/
