Hey Omega Experts! I'd love your views on whether this is a genuine item or a frankenstein/fake - see images below. Description: From the serial number on the original Omega calibre 620 movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1969. The watch, model 511.213, is signed 5x. -- Looking on the Omega Vintage Watch Database for the model - 511.213 - I couldn't find a watch that matched the imagery of the watchface (i.e. arabic numerals, no second hand etc). Comes with non-Omega steel bracely or leather strap. Is it a good buy at US$230/180 UK pounds? Thanks so much! CK Dimensions: Width with crown 21.6 mm Width without crown 20.0 mm Between lugs 10 mm Lug to lug length 25.8 mm Case Thickness 6.5 mm Bracelet maximum length 170 mm
The Geneve model was sort of a mid-range model for Omega in the late 1960s, seen here offered in gold in an Italian catalog from 1968: There is relatively little demand for ladies vintage watches in the collectibles market today, so you should be able to drive a hard bargain if that's the watch you want. Don't forget to get it serviced by a watchmaker (who is experienced with vintage watches) if you intend to wear it.
Looks alright. But if you're going for vintage ladies watches may i suggest the ladymatics and they can be had around the US$100 mark.
Watches for women don’t generally sell really well. Women’s motivations in choosing the watches that appeal to them are different to what motivates men. Make a low ball offer of less than half the asking price. Find out how badly the seller wants to move it. I find the dial to be most unattractive.
Hey I just wanted to say THANKS SO MUCH to all of you excellent Omega experts. You've really helped me. I've decided the watch is too expensive and (as suggested) will make a lower off and otherwise look for a ladymatic or something. Saved me, thanks!
