I'm new to the forum. Sorry for my sloppy question. I bought a speedmaster in Germany in Aug. of 1968 with the orange chrono hand. A dealer fraudulently Scammed it off me. legal action is underway to have it returned. My question was by knowing where and when it was bought and seeing its picture would he likely suspect it was an Ultraman.

It would be by picture. Knowledge level of dealer would be the deciding info after that. Ultramans are known to have been sold in many different countries.

When it was bought and the serial number can help identify a Ultraman.

I understand you think you sold the watch too cheap / not knowing what it possibly was, correct?

Since you bought the watch in 1968, it is possible that this watch you sold might be a rare series of so-called 'Ultraman' Speedies. The main production of these was in June 1968. When in 1968 did you buy it?

To answer your question if this was a rare watch you need the serial number of the movement and the reference. Then you will have to order an Extract of the Archives from OMEGA. There's no other way to check or proof anything for sure.

Here is a link to the MWO website providing lots of information:

If the watch you're asking about turned out to be a 'Ultraman' it would have a much higher value than the regular Speedmasters of that period.

BTW: Has the dealer been trying to sell the watch meanwhile?
