I’m looking to get my brother a watch for his 50th. I’ve seen a 145.018 on offer but I thought I would do some research first before I make an offer

    Ad specifies.
    Original dial, crown and pushers.
He includes the fact that it has chronocreep.

I feel like it’s had a bit too long on the polishing wheel.( soft edges)
But at the right price i may bite.
    He can’t/won’t provide movement photos
As he doesn’t have a good enough tool to remove the caseback
I’m going To look to see it in the flesh and inspect it myself.
But what do you guys think and what value.

    TIA

    Ira

The dial looks original, however it does seem its been polished heavily.
    Nice watch :)

    Okish to my eyes.
No doubt others will chime in with their thoughts.
Just bought my cal 861 ref 145.018 1969 NAAFI supplied On a BOR bracelet for £2500 from private owner.
Not been messed about with by the dealers.
With Omega Extract probably top retail but a nice honest example and I’m happy which is what matters most.
Quite a rare item believe only made for 2 years, but cal 321 are the serious money ones.
    Good luck and enjoy! E39E6BA9-FED5-4183-8B35-D93387ADF267.jpeg

The dial is good and checks out with the one photographed in A journey through time page 545. tritium spots are all present, that’s a plus. Crown and pushers seem to be original.
This reference though, has a very distinctive case design with sharp edges which your example unfortunately has lost due to excessive polishing.

Chrono creep can be dealt with during a full movement service but can produce extra costs.

The minute hand seems to be bend downwards, I think it should be straight!

Does the crystal have the omega logo in the center? I can’t tell from the pictures.

I‘d suggest you keep searching for a better example. Mainly due to the overpolished case.
It may be resurrected using the proper tools but there already seems to be quite a bit of loss of material on the lugs and also a full case refurbishment and movement service will most likely outweigh the money you can save on this one compared to a better example.

    Just my 2c.

    Cheers,

    Max

Nice watch but I would want wider end links on that BOR.
