Hi folks. I was hoping to tap into the Omega wisdom here to tell me if this De Ville chrono I've fallen for is a good purchase or best avoided. I've picked it up from a dealer on the basis it can be returned within 7 days if if I change my mind. I'm relatively inexperienced and therefore wary of going wrong! My main concern, and something I didn't pick up in the shop, is that the dial and hands are not lumed. Looking around the net I now realise almost all other examples of this model I see have tritium lumed dials and hands. And, to be honest, those dials look a lot older (and therefore seem original). I'm guessing therefore that this is a replacement dial and handset. Or worse... Can anyone offer any advice? Is this a problem, or doesn't it really matter? Does it affect the value? Thanks for any help.
Hi Odyssey, Looks like a good one to be honest. You're right, there are variants with lume... But also without... I haven't been able to work out if those without are later service dials, or earlier watches before they had to declare tritium? As far as I've been able to ascertain, there's the version you have (dressy, metal hands), which comes in dial/hand variants that both do, and don't have lume. And the version I and others here have that's more sporty, has the red sub register and always has lume. If you google the ref, and also cal 860 omega, you'll see a lot of the variations (dial/hands/lume/no lume). Hope that helps. Chris
I am no expert, but my understanding is, if there are T's adjacent to the "SWISS MADE" it indicates the dial had or has tritium indicators. The absence of T's indicates no tritium. So if yours is a redial or original dial at least you have consistency.
Love your avitar..."Whoa this is the worst looking hat I ever saw, what you buy a hat like this I bet you get a free bowl of soup,huh...Oh, it looks good on you though!" Outstanding and welcome to the forum.
You are precisely right. This is part of a GIF where Rodney rolls his eyes and turns away, but I could not get the GIF to work here. If you know how to get that done please tell.
