I have a Speedmaster Professional which I purchased in July 1970 for my father from the PX on Schofield Barracks, Hawaii upon my return from Vietnam. Fast forward 20 years, dad is gone and much younger brother has the watch. Bracelet is broken, watch never serviced, so I liberated it and took it home to San Francisco. I had the watch serviced by an authorized Omega shop (6th Floor of the Schreve Bldg, 210 Post St); and, I bought a replacement bracelet from an authorized Omega jeweler. The band was $240, and the service another $240.
So now, I've been searching for an end link for the new bracelet, which is a model 1479, with 812 lug links, 20MM at the lugs with 16MM end links. However, in the course of my search it appears that this bracelet my not be correct. My research has led me to believe that the correct bracelet would be a model 1171 with 633 lug links.
Am I correct, or is my research off?

What you are calling "lug links" are conventionally called "end links". I'm not sure what you are referring to as end links, maybe you are talking about the removable links? Most likely, you want a 1039 with 516 end-links. However, if you do purchase an 1171, make sure that it has the trapezoidal logo. The square logo version is later.

Yes, you are correct. The 1479 is for later models.
Depending on the reference Speedie you have the correct bracelet is either 1039, 1116 or 1171.
The correct 1171 version would a buckle with a raised logo in a trapezoid frame.

Pictures will help but if purchased in 1970 I can say it's almost certainly a 1039/516

1175/640 is another possibility. I personally, love them.

I bought my 145.022-69 during the summer of 1970. My came with a 1039/516 bracelet, which I still have.

I really like the 1175, comfortable and well made not rattly like the (current)1171. My 1976 Speedmaster is back on it’s original 1175 and will be staying there. Omega replaced the bracelet with a new 1171 at service 20years ago. The only time they have had the watch and thankfully it came back with the old bracelet in a bag o’ bits. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the 1175 apart from a little stretch but they replaced it with something worse anyway. At least they left the dial and hands.....
