Brand new to the OF forums. Been scouring to find a replacement of a stolen heirloom Omega that was passed down to me from my grandfather.

I have been reading lots about things to watch for in Omegas (matching case numbers with movements, original parts etc..), however I still find myself a little nervous to jump in to buying something.

Found this local ad and wondered if some more experienced OF-ers could give some advice? How does it look? Is the price reasonable (in CAD)?

    https://www.kijiji.ca/v-jewelry-watch/city-of-toronto/mint-1967-omega-seamaster-de-ville-14k-ss-automatic/1326473533?

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

Not a bad looking watch, but over priced by at least 2X even in Canadian dollars.

I wondered about that... I have seen a few in the private sale forum for less. Prices online are all over the map though, it seems.

Fellow GTA’er here - Kijiji is a minefield as far as vintage watches go. Mostly scummy watchmakers selling crappy re-dials or poor/degraded examples at inflated prices.

Your best bet is to hang around here and monitor the Private Sales forum... something will pop up for less than half the price and in nicer condition. Even with potential taxes/duty you’ll end up miles ahead.
