1967 Omega? 135.012? 601 cal redial? Patina?

Hello everyone, my local shop is selling this omega vintage watch. Can anyone tell me a little more about it.

Is the crown too thick?

This is the write up from said shop.

FOR SALE $550 CAD
Omega reference 135.012 dating to 1967. Awesome radial dial, with a unique patina that has given it the look of a rotary phone. Manual wind caliber 601 inside, freshly serviced and backed by our warranty

Hi Darin, and welcome to OF.

Redial or not, it’s overpriced and the case is over polished. It’s hard to tell with the crown but it’s roughly what was fitted in the late 1960s.

That said, the dial is a horrible mess and the hands look wrong too.

You can do much better for the half the price.

The case has been pretty heavily polished and I'd say that the back has been machined down - likely to remove engraving. Patina on a dial is a matter of personal preference but this one falls more towards severe damage in my opinion. All 3 issues would make this a no go for me. I think you can do better for that price. Here us one I bought face to face on kijiji this past year for the same price. The case is polished but the dial is intact, as was the seamonster caseback.

Dial and hands are correct, but it's way past patina to me.

Welcome @FarmYard - agreed with the above, it’s a little toasty. If you love the looks of it- then try to negotiate it down to something more sane.

For reference- here is a nice example of a slightly patina’d Seamaster for very reasonable money in the classifieds here.

The seller for this Seamaster 600 is from Canada, which makes this even better, as the OP would avoid the import duty and taxes.

Thanks for the input everyone. This explains why it's been up for sale for approximately 6 months. They do have some pretty clean stuff with nice faces that tend to go pretty quickly.
