So I was hoping to buy one of these watches for my brother to match the one I have but they seem to be very rare...can anyone help to give me an idea of value?.....The watch is 100% genuine, i was with my dad when he bought it new in the late 60's, I still have the box and paperwork somewhere and the original s/s bracelet is in great condition.
In searching around the web there seems to be very little information or reference to this particular model so if it is rare and sought after it would be good to know.
Any thoughts or views would be most appreciated...the watch obviously has great sentimental value and the next step will be to get Omega to do a verified search from their archive service....

Mother of God...that is a beautiful racing 145.012. Very rare variant and many are not in the same condition as yours.

Very beautiful example. I hope you wear it in good health. You'll have trouble finding your brother a similar one without selling a kidney or two![emoji23]

So I seem to have opened a real can of worms trying to find one for my brother...that idea is now clearly off the table and the search now begins for the paperwork and box which were last seen at our house in France...down there in 10 days so hoping to retrieve and bring back...

Thank you for all responding with your comments....as it stands now would you guys recommend sending the watch to Omega for a service and archive authentication or does anyone have a suggestion of somewhere better to take it?

Fairly blown away by the reaction to the watch which I have been wearing periodically for the last 30 years and it has always kept excellent time though I have always doubted, and therefore never really tested, how waterproof it is.

Many thanks again for all your very helpful posts

I would order the Extract of the Archives from Omega but would not send it to Bien for service. I would much rather rely on someone like Simon Freese, STS, or the like. Bien is know for replacing parts with service parts, polishing, etc... With this amazing piece I would not chance that. I am sure other members can chime in with other options, opinions as well.

Simon Freese comes highly reccomend for service.

Please don't send it to Omega... they're not setup to deal with vintage properly. To put things politely.

After it's serviced, you can get an extract of the archives through omegas website.

    Good luck.

I'd reckon you owe your brother 30k usd for his half of the watch!

6lb 8oz sweet baby Jesus that is one hell of a timepiece!! Oh...and welcome to The Omega Forum!! Oh and don't forget whatever you are offered for this watch today(and I'm sure there are offers out there) it will only go up in value and due to the rare nature and the rising speedy market most likely significantly....

They are set-up fine for vintage - but they simply don't care enough to do things right.

    To put things less politely...;)

Thanks everyone...I shall follow that advice and go the specialist route....though at the moment I have no intention of selling...I've enjoyed wearing the watch this past thirty years and see no real reason to change that...it has huge sentimental value....but from what I have gleaned from the forum today I might stop wearing it for forest and brush clearing....

Whatever you do, do Not send the watch to Omega for serving! Let us know what end of the world you are in, and someone will suggest a reputable watchmaker for you.
