1966 dial with close T Swiss Made text 1967 caseback inscribed 145.012-67 1968 Tritium (?) flat counter-weight chrono seconds hands
2667. range which would make it a late 1967 or judging the Tritium (?) hands a 1968 ... Not necessarily a Franken as these parts were available in 1967
SpeedyPhill's first thread of the new year is about a Speedy. Imagine that! ......and it's possibly a Shenanigans Speedmaster. We NEVER see shenanigans surrounding Speedmasters! edited to correct autocorrect.
Well... first 2017 post was about a 1967 Omega booklet which came supposedly with the 145.012-67 pictured .
Just checked Fratellowatches topic on 145.012-67 and there's a picture of about the same version; 1966 close T Swiss made dial 1967 caseback inscribed 145.012-67 1966 drop counter-weight chrono seconds hands
I could see the flat bottom Chrono hand, caseback and serial being original, but I can't see that close T dial being factory.
FratelloWatches buyer's guide for 145.012 even shows more exotic combinations http://www.fratellowatches.com/spee...dmaster-professional-145-012-67-buyers-guide/
i think you'll struggle to find anyone who thinks the dial is original, given the caseback and serial appear to match to a later 145.012.
Speedmaster101 website also shows an exotic 105.003 non-Professional 145.012... but I don't believe 1968s are scarce harder-to-find http://speedmaster101.com/blog/145-012-quick-guide/
The one that's headed "this next one is dodgy as hell"? Is it your watch or one you're looking at? It's a nice dial, but it's not original. It's for an earlier 105.012. Probably a 65 or early 66HF.
Indeed it shows rare combinations were made with vintage parts... However I still believe there's a chance that the combination in the original post could be correct as Omega used up all parts before production of the 861 versions
Perhaps the serial number is 2607xxxx? I think 2667xxxx would put this watch in the 861 caliber range. 2655xxxx is, I believe, the line from 321 to 861. 2607xxxx,however, is a very common 145.012-67 movement number series.
Made by whom? Omega or a random watchmaker/individual? i could have my watchmaker put a mk2 dial in a 145.012. Rare? Yes. Correct. Of course not. Is there the slightest 0.001% chance this dial is original? Yes. But it's overehelming likely it's been swapped since it left the factory.
I'm offered this watch. Checked again and the range is 2667.67xx which should be one of the very last 361 movements made before October 1968 The close T 1966 dial remains an important issue .
