    Hi,
Am lusting after this watch, I really like the small dimensions of a very technical watch.
Price is a bit high around £1700!
    Thoughts please.

I'd say that's not an overly expensive UK price for a good clean example of this watch.

Expensive because dial looks refinished to me.

Either that or in the most incredible original condition.

If you look carefully, these non-speedmaster cal 321's are valued by the open market at $1500-2200.
Several sellers offer watches with asking prices are that are much higher and rarely achieved.

these watches have the problem that they have low desirability and therefore have not had the money spent on servicing that 321's need. After all at current prices a service will be 30% of the value! compared to a speedmaster where it can be 15% or less of the value.

so as a consequence some of the irreplaceable parts might have worn, leading to even more expense, on what is currently a sub $2000 watch.

in this example, I believe the dial is refinished because of the condition. At $1800 it wouldn't matter, but this is not $1800.

The same price could by my two register chrono cal 320 in solid 18k gold with original albeit some small aged dial.

Sad but largely true - I think the cal. 321 non-speedmaster omegas are hugely undervalued particularly the seamasters. There are exceptions though - the solid 18k rose gold ones in nice shape will fetch a good price as will the jumbo versions and of course those in mint condition. These watches are actually less plentiful than the cal. 321 speedmasters.

I am told the dial is original. I must say even if I could afford a speedmaster 321, I would prefer the smaller 35mm Seamaster.
You lot are a bit depressing, I think one should go for what appeals and not be too affected by current values!
I will keep you posted if I buy this one.

Take what has been said about the dial with a grain of salt - as I had mentioned, this one looks like a redial. This cal. 320 in an 18k rose gold case advertised in this forum is IMO a much better buy:

I am not sure what is depressing. The fact the market values these 321 seamasters so low, ought to be uplifting.

I think there is general agreement that these are great little watches, just not (yet) valued like the speedmaster.

there is no critism from this contributer on the choice of watch, far from it.

Its an very nice buy at that money (the rose gold 320 not the OP's 321), one member actually PMed me what was wrong with it as he didn't think you could get a rose gold 32x powered chronograph with an original dial at that money.

I agree with you, that gold 320 is really beautiful.
I just wanted a Stainless Steel to go with my other Golds. 1_010.jpg $_57.JPG
