    Hi!

My boyfriend lost his (non-vintage) Omega Seamaster in a bathroom in NYC, so until I can afford to buy him the watch he truly misses, I bought him a vintage one on eBay.

I wanted to come here to make sure I didn't get swindled since I know nothing about watches. :)

Here are the details, as listed by the seller:

CASE: Stainless steel case. The measurements are 35,00 mm without the crown.

COVER: Stainless steel cover screw back signed engraved inside omega watch Co and logo fab swiss made. acier inoxydable #135.070 outside waterproof

    CROWN: unsigned

    CRYSTAL: Acrylic

DIAL: omega grey dial seamaster signed omega seamaster 600 swiss made with center seconds, recently professionally restored.

MOVEMENT: Original omega movement cal 601 wind up signed omega watch co 601 swiss 17 jewels #21661738 working very well recently full service

    STRAP: black leather

Please let me know anything that comes to mind about this watch! I'd like to make sure it's not an embarrassment to give it to him. Thank you so much in advance for your expertise!

DO NOT buy this watch it is not a Seamaster, it it a Geneve model which someone has added Seamaster 600 to the dial when it was refinished.

I would report him to ebay. if it is not a seamaster, then you will be reimbursed easily.

The description of the dial would normally be a get out clause
But if is not a Seamaster (as per @xj350 XJR post) as described in the sale title but a re dialed Geneve then you may be able to raise a claim with Ebay

According to the ad, the seller accepts returns; contact him, tell him that the watch is not a seamaster and that you are no longer interested, and probably you both will save a lot of troubles if he reimburses you (if you have already paid) and does not send you the watch.

I did pay with Paypal, and I've messaged the seller with X350's comment. Should I wait to hear back from him first? I've never dealt with eBay fraud before.

I'd give the guy a chance to respond. Strictly speaking the seller does state that the dial has been refinished and that some parts may have been changed.

I received this reply from the seller (english is obviously not a first language but I think I get the gist):

"hi is original omega 100% refinish dial only the refinish watchmaker mistake and add 600,
i can get professionally the 600.
tell me if you agree i will made tomorrow
    best regards"

Seems sketchy, no? I am only interested in an Omega Seamaster.

I responded: "Is this watch a Seamaster? I am only interested in an Omega Seamaster. I was told that this is a Geneve model disguised to look like a Seamaster."

His response: "hi yes is seamaster"

The watch sold is labeled as Seamaster 600, when in fact it should be labeled a Geneve. You indicated to me in a previous message that "100% refinish dial only the refinish watchmaker mistake and add 600." This was not stated in the original listing, so instead of you shipping it, and me returning it please refund my money.

Respond back saying: No, this is an Omega Geneve. 135.070 in the Omega database proves it. Picture below.

Thank you all so much for being so very helpful! I've responded to him and attached the picture of the Geneve. I'll let you know how he responds in this epic saga. :)

This was his CRAZY response: "hi the watch is original seamaster later i returned your money and i cancel the dial must investigate before bidding and not ruin my bid, I am collector and 20 years ago that I devote myself to collect vintage watch, regards"

Is he trying to blame me for not investigating his fraudulent listing? This is a nightmare.
