1963 Omega Constellation Ref. CD 168.005

Hey everyone,

I wanted to share a vintage Omega Constellation that I recently acquired and would love to get the community’s expert eyes on it.

I know this was serviced once and I have papers for that. Beyond the basics, is there anything subtle or unique about this specific reference, production batch, or military BX distribution that I should know about?

I’d appreciate any insights, historical context, or observations regarding originality from the Constellation experts here!

Thanks! I guess just because it was bought on a military base doesn't make it military.

Nice that you have the box and papers.
In-focus pics of the watch would be helpful (@SOG53 beat me to it)

From the one blurry pic of the front of the watch, I fear it may have a repainted dial - (minute haches look to be too long) but we will know better if you post sharper pics.

As @ukchrono says, the watch may well have been bought by a serviceman but is not considered a 'military' watch, I have a similar Constellation bought from the NAAFI shop by an RAF Engineer.

Was it sold as original dial? If so it would be returnable but if not still attractive and wearable watch, but collector value less.

Unfortunately, it looks like it's been redialed. The fonts are off and the variations in boldness and spacing are pretty stark

Thank you all for the feedback! The watch was a gift so I'm curious how all of that happened. I'm guessing damage and replaced parts?

Replacing crown is part of standard service. Also if dial was damaged or stained then redial was also often part of a routine service. Having a clean presentable watch was more important than preserving future originality for watch nerds like us.
So its common and doesnt prevent you from wearing and enjoying the watch.
