Dear OF, Up for your consideration is this remarkable time-only Eterna-Matic Centenaire 61, which was Eternas 'top of the bill' model from that era. The highlight is, of course, Eterna's subtle iteration of a linen dial. The dial shows no signs of age, barring a few marks under the hands, which indicate a service in the past. I particularly like the contrast between the fat and slim markers, as well as the pumpkin-colored tritium. I also find the minute track adds a great sense of depth and makes for a slightly larger wrist presence. The case is gold-capped and in good condition throughout. The crown is unmarked and uncapped, as it should be. The glass does not have the engraved '5 star', but I am unsure whether it should or not. The lugs are conveniently drilled. The case back is in excellent shape and the serial no. - of course - matches the booklet. In my experience, Eterna, unlike most prominent brands, is still underrated. Yet, it remains uncommon to encounter sets like these, especially since most Eternas with this case appear to have bent lugs. I am parting with it because I am aiming to invest in a solid gold piece in the near future. I think it would be a great fit for a vintage collector who appreciates provenance! The movement is a cal. 1428U rotor automatic. lovely condition on an under rated brand. very rare to see one in this good condition. my plain jane centenaire hidden crown also lacks the 5 ball bearing insignia and that seems common.
