    Hi all,

I'm looking to make my first Omega purchase, and I'm hoping to gain some insight on a 1961 Seamaster I found on eBay.

The serial number is 18199338, which dates it to 1961. The seller claims that:
    • Dial is original with black cross hairs
    • Cyclops date magnifier
    • 562 cal, 24 jewels
    • Factory Omega beads of rice SS tri-fold deployment bracelet
    • 6X signed (Case, Dial, Movement, Crown, Crystal, Bracelet)
    • Case measures 33.5mm diameter (excluding winding crown), 42.5mm long and 11mm thick. 18mm lug spacing
I'd really appreciate it if you could let me know if this is a legit '61 Seamaster.

    Thank you all in advance!

Pillow style dial is legit, case has some wear to the lugs (should have sharp facets) Dependable on price really...

Dial style is uncommon & looks legit (not redial). The case has seen polish machine a bit too many.
If the price is right, this would be a decent daily wearer......

If you do buy it, there is quite a bit of corrosion on the inner case back surface where it seals - so the watch may no longer be water-tight. Just a point to bear in mind . . .

Thanks for the comments, everyone. I'd hope to pick this watch up for a max of $600, but I feel like its value lies somewhere between $400 and $500. Does that seem right?

Yes, I noticed the corrosion. I guess the solution would be to find a replacement case back?

    Thanks everyone

Id say around $500 is fair.
