1960s 7414 - dial too 'clean' to not be original?

Hello,

Keen for any help/advice please on whether this dial is just too clean looking to be original, i.e. been refinished, or am I overthinking it...

First off, there is no patina that I can see. I guess it could have been kept in a drawer all this time...

And I might be starting to hallucinate having zoomed in so much, but this 7414-1... are some of the batons not centred quite right with the minute markers (e.g. 10 and 40), does the L for Longines not have a long enough tail to the bottom left, and is the black font slightly bolder for the minute numbers than usual?

I've compared to previous sales on OF, where patina is clearly present, the batons look correctly centred etc.

and I can't get those thoughts out of my head...

Grateful for any thoughts!

Thanks,

Its a nice watch. I hate it when dealers do this. Ask for pics in sunlight. It might still however be a very clean, safe queen original dial. Case is sharp. It is possible.

Pics are overexposed (japanese dealer?) but I vote original.
Yeah the pics are frustrating, see a lot of these recently and the same acrylic watch stand and positionings of each photo...!

Looks like location is Japan for many of the items being sold via a European auction house. So when you ask for more photos/better quality ones they say 'we don't have access to the watch'.

I've asked for further pictures, including sunlight... expecting 'no bueno' to be the answer. But you're right, looks clean and hopefully a safe queen

Annoying...

It appears original to me eye, setting aside the possibility of photo processing issues.

Absent radium, and with well-formulated finishing lacquers, coupled with careful storage, dials can remain remarkably well preserved.

If it is a Japanese dealer, I would add that as a group, they are probably the least likely in the world to misrepresent a vintage dial as original. It is cultural, and on a related note, foods packaged in opaque wrappers must, by law, very closely resemble the graphic images on the outside of the package.

I’m also not seeing any obvious concerns with the dial.
