The mans face says it all when he finds out what his watch is worth which he bought in 1960 Enjoy.....
Thanks for posting! There is another thread on this, but the video was geo-blocked. So, it was about a month's salary when he bought it. Now it's a year's?
Love the video. The owner almost lost his breath....looked as if he would fall out when told how much it's worth now. Nice video
And that's why you should always be nice to Grandpa and Grandma even if you heard their storys a million times before .
I feel so happy for the ex GI . I'm all tear up here because this decent wonderful thoughtful gentleman even bought a watch for his dad & faithfully kept everything for unknown reasons. Not even the elements of an unforgiving Ravaging Nature for over 50 + yrs could destroy that watch & all its paperwork. This is a Miracle by An Act of God ! My personnel suggestion The Rolex Muzium should act immediately to buy back & preserve that special timepiece. USD 75 000.xx + Video 25 000.xx What's another 25 K to Rolex ? His expression was priceless yes.. like he was about to collapse A Rolex Gift to that Man in the form of a new GMT Master II with a certified special model number signed by Mr Rolex President himself . Total = USD 100 000 .xx + A new Rolex GMT Master II to this gentleman
Thanks for sharing such a cool video. The story behind that watch is what makes it so cool and to keep all the original paper work...that's just awesome.
Lovely Video.. What a charming and lovely owner... I just can't believe they pinned his documents... so amateurish, and quite possibly devaluing them..
Wow. Love the lack of over aged patina. Does anyone know of that's the original bezel? I didn't know they had a coke early on?
Amazingly complete set of papers etc. Did anybody else notice how at the 1:47 mark of the video the box has very specific instructions about using it for cigarette storage?
Well that's great to hear.. I shouldn't have passed judgement after watching on my phone.. But I have worked in the TV biz for 25 years, so feared the worst, after seeing it first hand many times...
So question... What I've found is that sometimes the value quoted on those shows is the insurance value not the actual price unless they state at auction. What have the comparables going for recently?
My wife doesn't like Antique Roadshow, but happened to be watching that episode with me. When the segment was over, she asked if my Rolex would be worth that much some day. I said sure, but we'll be 115 years old by then and probably won't need the money
Why didn't any one in the military give either one of my grandfathers this advice? Or better yet why can't I meet a nice old man who would like to sell his "old" Rolex for $1,500?!!
