Hi, I bought my first Rolex.. the Air King without checking the case-number and movement. When I removed the caseback this 1560 movement was installed in the 1500 case. Is this correct, because seller said it was correct in those early years? Accordig the data on the net this is wrong.... Number aside the case is relating to the year 1960. Also: On the dial is 'Date' missing after the words 'Air King'. According eBay I can get my money back if things are incorrect. Thank you for your help and OF for the Thread..
I think you need to send that back. It should say date on the dial. Also I don't think it should have the 1500 case or 1560 movement. http://www.rolexmagazine.com/2013/07/the-complete-history-of-rolex-air-king.html?m=1 http://www.watchtalkforum.com/topic/1400-the-evolution-of-rolex-air-king/ My Air King Date says Date:
oh btw thats perfectly fine. Great score. "A lot of 15XX series date models came with 1560 and 1570 marked movements, it is just an anomoly from the factory. All 15XX movements with dates are in fact 1565 or 1575 movements. Some date movements will have 1565 and 1575 stamped on the movement while others will have 1560 or 1575. It is not a problem I don't think you have anything to worry about." makes sense to me!
Thank you for the answers Drawarms and Giff2577 and OF for the thread... I will put frames of the text in my auction if you don't mind... Kind regards, Eric
Well, Thank you very much Guys. Just did it for this bracelet,..... don't tell me it's also wrong.. , .. if needed more pictures will follow on demand.
Could you post other pictures to include shots of the clasp? Is this a restoration job, looks extremely clean?
Here are the pictures coming from the auction.. thank you for the comment- and judging them... View attachment 319376 View attachment 319377 View attachment 319378 View attachment 319384 View attachment 319385
Is the 7206, the one on the Tudor.. If so, you have a franken bracelet, made up of parts. One of the blades has 6251h stamped, which is for a jubilee. Hopefully you didn't pay much for it, otherwise, I would recommend returning. If you have better pictures, I will continue to look at it..
I know the clasp is not correct (I have an original at home). I would like to know if the bracelet and end-links are o.k.....
A lot of fakes have surfaced recently... Several were removed from another forum that were being offered for sale. These fakes are being offered in the $300-800. First and foremost - Know and Buy your seller ! One section/side (no clasp) of a legitimate 7206 costs about $700...
