    Hi Guys
I'm looking for some advice. I bought a beautiful 1960 Speedmaster at auction, wore it and loved it until in the summer last year the bezel fell off when I was out one evening - never to be seen again.

I've tried keeping a lookout on various places inc eBay but it seems a bit of pot luck and I'm also cautious of potential fakes. I doubt the bezel on the watch was the original as it was in such good condition so any comment about the correct ones would also be appreciated.

Do the bezels that would be correct for my watch come up for sale on here? And any tips on where to/not go to hunt one down?

Attaching a pit pre bezel fall off.

    Cheers
    Richard

That is a later bezel specifically from the 90’s on.

A 2998... well that a base 1000 bezel. I wish you luck on your hunt for the holy grail.

If I’m not mistaken that’s also a modern replacement dial.

A 2998-6x should have a base 500 DON I think. Should be readily available!

Yes, dial looks new to me also, and the hands are probably from seamaster.

The bezel would more likely be a typical DON bezel, not base 1000, depending on the reference of course. The earliest of the 2998s would be base 1000, but most are just DON.

    Nice looking watch regardless .

Good point. I was assuming a an early one. A DON is still about 2-3k. A base 1000 is???? If you have to ask.

Yeah, would be important to see what's under the hood?

And I think that @oddboy is correct concerning the hands. They are not matching IMO.

The sub register hands would suggest earlier than 2998 -6. The hour and minute hands, as pointed out, do not look correct to me either
